John 10: 1-5
“Truly I tell you, anyone who doesn’t enter the sheep pen by the gate but climbs in some other way is a thief and a robber. 2 The one who enters by the gate is the shepherd of the sheep.
3 The gatekeeper opens it for him, and the sheep hear his voice. He calls his own sheep by
name and leads them out. 4 When he has brought all his own outside, he goes ahead of them. The sheep follow him because they know his voice. 5 They will never follow a stranger;
instead they will run away from him, because they don’t know the voice of strangers.”
How many different voices do we hear each week? Family, friends, radio, television,
coworkers, social media, newspapers, online articles, magazines, strangers in the
grocery store, people at church, and the list goes on and on….
How many of those voices truly want what’s best for you?
How many truly want Godly things for you?
How do you discern the voice of Jesus from all the other voices you hear each week?
How do you discern truth from all the noise?
Outright lies are easy to spot usually, but lies that SOUND and FEEL true, those are the
ones that the enemy excels in using,
and those are the ones that lead us astray.
What’s a lie that sounded true that you believed? How did you discover it wasn’t true?
How do you plan to listen to God, and God alone at some point this week?

Romans 3:23-27 ERV
23 All have sinned and are not good enough to share God’s divine greatness. 24 They are made right with God by his grace. This is a free gift. They are made right with God by being made
free from sin through Jesus Christ. 25-26 God gave Jesus as a way to forgive people’s
sins through their faith in him. God can forgive them because the blood sacrifice of Jesus
pays for their sins. God gave Jesus to show that he always does what is right and fair.
He was right in the past when he was patient and did not punish people for their sins.
And in our own time he still does what is right. God worked all this out in a way that
allows him to judge people fairly and still make right any person who has faith in Jesus.
27 So do we have any reason to boast about ourselves? No reason at all. And why not?
Because we are depending on the way of faith, not on what we have done in following the law.
How long has it been since you thought about the great sacrifice God made for you?
Spend some time considering your redemption.
When you consider your own sinful nature, how great does God’s gift of grace appear?
Spend some time thanking Him for your salvation.
How can you actively thank God today for His great gift?

John 6:35
Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.
“I am the bread of life.” Jesus assures us that He is all we will ever need. Why do you think
this is such a hard teaching for each of us to absorb?
Why is it so hard for each of us to live as though knowing Jesus is enough?
Think of a time where you felt 100% sure that Jesus was enough for you.
Think of a time where you realized that you were acting like Jesus wasn’t enough….
whether you were being selfish, or chasing sin, or allowing yourself to be consumed
with worry or anxiety?
“Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never
be thirsty.”
What if you lost everything? If all that was important to you was gone what would your daily relationship with Christ have to look like in order for you to find comfort in His words about
never being hungry or thirsty again?
What can you do to start forming THAT sort of relationship with Him right now today….
so that you will have it if you ever need it?
Stop for a moment and think about all that you have. Jesus has assured us that we don’t
need all of that…..so what a great blessing to have it all anyway! What are ten things that
you are thankful for that you have above and beyond what you need?

John 6:30-31
30 So they asked him, “What sign then will you give that we may see it and believe you?
30 So they asked him, “What sign then will you give that we may see it and believe you?
What will you do? 31 Our ancestors ate the manna in the wilderness; as it is written:
‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’ ”
The crowd is following Jesus because of His powerful teaching, and because just the day
before He had fed them by performing a miracle. And they’re asking Him for a sign so they
can believe Him.
Why are we often so very anxious to SEE some sort of proof that God exists?
Even when we know it, we believe it, and live our lives according to that belief, why do we so often want to see proof?
What is the proof of God in your life?
What can you point to, right now, today, as proof of God working in your life?
How often do you take inventory of the great things that God does?
What if you started EVERY interaction with God (prayer, worship, devotions, etc)
by listing all the things you’re thankful for? And all the things you see God doing in your life,
and the lives of those around you?
How might that posture of thankfulness change our desire to see PROOF of God working?

John 6:28-29
28 Then they asked him, “What must we do to do the works God requires?”
29 Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.”
28 Then they asked him, “What must we do to do the works God requires?”
29 Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.”
Why would Jesus describe belief as ‘work’?
God sent Jesus to us, but in order for us to benefit from that we must first believe.
Why do you think belief is so hard for so many people?
Why is belief hard for you?
Jesus describes ‘The work of God’ as belief in Jesus.
So if that is our assignment, to walk out our belief, what have you done in the past 90 days to show that belief?
In the last month? Week? Today?
What will you do tomorrow to show that you believe in Jesus?

Philippians 4:6-9 ERV

6 Don’t worry about anything, but pray and ask God for everything you need, always giving
thanks for what you have. 7 And because you belong to Christ Jesus, God’s peace will stand guard over all your thoughts and feelings. His peace can do this far better than our human
minds.
8 Brothers and sisters, continue to think about what is good and worthy of praise. Think about what is true and honorable and right and pure and beautiful and respected. 9 And do what you learned and received from me—what I told you and what you saw me do. And the God who
gives peace will be with you.
How does worry keep you from being satisfied with God’s provision in your life? How can you change your focus from worry?
How can prayer and thanksgiving bring peace when you have real-world problems?
Do you have someone in your life that you can learn from, in a biblical way, on your path to
peace and contentment? If not, what will you do about it? Who can you find to disciple you to greater maturity?

1 Timothy 6:3-10 ERV
3 Some people will teach what is false and will not agree with the true teaching of our Lord
Jesus Christ. They will not accept the teaching that produces a life of devotion to God.
4 They are proud of what they know, but they understand nothing. They are sick with a love for arguing and fighting about words. And that brings jealousy, quarrels, insults, and evil mistrust.
5 They are always making trouble, because they are people whose thinking has been confused. They have lost their understanding of the truth. They think that devotion to God is a way to get rich. 6 Devotion to God is, in fact, a way for people to be very rich, but only if it makes them satisfied with what they have. 7 When we came into the world, we brought nothing.
And when we die, we can take nothing out. 8 So, if we have food and clothes, we will be
satisfied with that. 9 People who want to be rich bring temptations to themselves. They are caught in a trap. They begin to want many foolish things that will hurt them. These things
ruin and destroy people. 10 The love of money causes all kinds of evil. Some people have
turned away from what we believe because they want to get more and more money. But they have caused themselves a lot of pain and sorrow.
In our passage, Paul ties believing incorrectly about doctrine with an inability to be
satisfied with what we have? Why do you believe that is true? Do you think that it has affected you?
Paul tells us that people who want to be rich and setting themselves in a trap through temptation? How have you seen that lived out in your own life?
How can you prepare yourself better so that you won’t have to bear the pain and sorrow
that will come to those who focus on earthly wealth?
